Baby It;'s Cold Outside & I'm in Fayetteville NC!

That's what Specialist Jacob said to me this evening when he called. It was good to hear from him as it has been a week. From what he said a very cold week in the "sunny south (?)". He, and from what I understand his whole brigade, has been in the field this past week. Apparently they are preparing for the next disaster the United States has to bail some foreign county out of. The temperatures have been below freezing during the night and the guys (and gals) have been sleeping in their Humvees. No, Not together to keep warm either. Dirty minds!

From the tone of his voice and what he said they did pretty well. They apparently were practicing setting up and tearing down and moving to another site. Something I wouldn't want to do when the temps are around freezing but you never know where you may wind up when you are with the 82nd Airborne. They put the "rapid" in Rapid Response

The 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, provides the ability to begin executing a strategic airborne forcible entry into any area of the world within 18 hours of notification. Their primary mission is airfield and seaport seizure. Clik here for more on the 82nd.

From what he tells me it is home for the weekend and back out for a couple of days next week and home for Turkey Day. This year home for Turkey Day even if it is not Ohio is wonderful. He will be with "his" family, wife and kids. Much better than last year for sure. Christmas is coming up and he will be in Ohio unless some stupid Dictator decides to play games. Then, I believe ABNMOMMA will take care of the Dictator herself and they won't have to send the 82nd. SHE WANTS HER SOLDIER HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! Well so do I

For those of you who went over to Conservative Outrage, thanks. Elizabeth and I continue our dialogue and I believe it is enlightening and good discussion. The offer stands to come over and comment.

Veterans Day

It's Veterans Day. We stand and salute those who have fought and those who have died to make The United States of America free. There are no words that can convey a proper "Thank you" to these valiant men and women. In their honor I ask only this, listen to the selection of songs on my blog. As you do say a silent prayer for them. Thank God for them and that He has blessed us with the finest men and women on earth. Thanks to men and women who have sacrificed their families, their bodies and their lives, we live in the greatest county on Earth.

God Bless you all!

Election Day

Election Day is about over. In a way I am glad regardless of the outcome. I do have a horse in this race as you all know. The only person I blog with that may not be receiving relentless phone calls is JM. Her husband's post was about the best I have ever read about any election. If you haven't read it, you should. Clik. It truly puts life in perspective.

NOW for my stuff. Specialist Jacob and his section certified last week and they got basically a 3 day pass. He was excited as he got to stay home and do some yard work! Since returning from Iraq he has jumped I think 3 times maybe 4 all without major problems. Makes me happy and him REAL happy. Went to some type of First Aid training and learned how to start an IV. Made his mother happy as she is a nurse. I am not sure about the guys/gals he had to stick to learn how to do this. Will get back to you on this.

NOW for the really good stuff. I love the ARMY. After spending 15 months in Iraq most of the time in beautiful, exotic, Baghdad and driving mile after mile on roads and streets pock marked with IED explosions and more possible IEDS, the ARMY is sending him to ....., and the answer is.....DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL!

You just gotta love the ARMY.

Equally as important on the Driving School is my daughter, Sarah. She has informed us she is expecting a baby around December 5th (this year). Thank goodness, all this time I thought she was stealing basketballs from the Wal-Mart store I work at part-time. This will be number four and I don't know how many more. They don't believe in finding out the sex before the baby is born but ABNMOMMA says "she's carrying that baby in the front, it's a boy for sure". After 31 years of marriage I have learned one thing. Don't argue with the Queen!

Finally it is a beautiful day here and I have the windows open and the sun is shining. I wish this could last until April and then warm up. Alas, the Ohio winter will be upon us and I will be depressed until the spring when I can get out and back into my garden.

We live in the best country in the world. I hope you have done you your patriotic duty and privilege and voted. If not, there is still time. Do It!
