That's what Specialist Jacob said to me this evening when he called. It was good to hear from him as it has been a week. From what he said a very cold week in the "sunny south (?)". He, and from what I understand his whole brigade, has been in the field this past week. Apparently they are preparing for the next disaster the United States has to bail some foreign county out of. The temperatures have been below freezing during the night and the guys (and gals) have been sleeping in their Humvees. No, Not together to keep warm either. Dirty minds!
From the tone of his voice and what he said they did pretty well. They apparently were practicing setting up and tearing down and moving to another site. Something I wouldn't want to do when the temps are around freezing but you never know where you may wind up when you are with the 82nd Airborne. They put the "rapid" in Rapid Response
The 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, provides the ability to begin executing a strategic airborne forcible entry into any area of the world within 18 hours of notification. Their primary mission is airfield and seaport seizure. Clik here for more on the 82nd.
From what he tells me it is home for the weekend and back out for a couple of days next week and home for Turkey Day. This year home for Turkey Day even if it is not Ohio is wonderful. He will be with "his" family, wife and kids. Much better than last year for sure. Christmas is coming up and he will be in Ohio unless some stupid Dictator decides to play games. Then, I believe ABNMOMMA will take care of the Dictator herself and they won't have to send the 82nd. SHE WANTS HER SOLDIER HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! Well so do I
For those of you who went over to Conservative Outrage, thanks. Elizabeth and I continue our dialogue and I believe it is enlightening and good discussion. The offer stands to come over and comment.

My prayers are constant for our Airman, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines.
~AirmanMom returning to her blog...
wow, they'd better get him to Ohio for Christmas or I'm bailing out of here! I don't wanna be within about a zillion miles of an unhappy Momms!! :-)
Pops,
What I hear from the Red Falcons, it's still a go for Christmas. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
And MM: The 82nd is tough, but you don't want to mess with their Moms.
Amen, 'dad, Amen!
AM, thanks for the prayers we can all use them. Weather is not good in Midwest today. Hot chocolate and cookies from mom would be nice I am sure. Cold, wet, and windy.
